Russell T Davies Reveals He Called On 'Shakespeare Expert' David Tennant For Inspiration On A Midsummer Night's Dream

Russell T Davies has revealed to the Radio Times that he called upon David Tennant to help inspire him for his new BBC One production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Talking in the new issue, which is released tomorrow, he tells the magazine:
“When I embarked on this production, I scrolled down my phone to seek the advice of the greatest expert in Shakespeare I know, David Tennant," says Davies. "Sadly, he wasn’t free to appear in this production – he would have made a great Moth – but he suggested some brilliant jokes. When you see the gag with Bernard Cribbins and a handpump, that’s copyright DT.”

A Midsummer Night's Dream will air on BBC One on Monday 30th May at 8.30pm
