FRANCE: Broadchurch Holds Second Place In Overnight Ratings



The UK drama Broadchurch narrowly lost out to TF1 series Camping Paradis in the French TV audience ratings last night. Three episodes of the acclaimed crime series starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman were broadcast on France 2 from 20.55. The show follows the trial of Joe Miller, accused of the murder of eleven-year old Danny Latimer, while the detective team of Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller get to grips with another case. 

The series opened last week with 5.2 million viewers watching the triple episode broadcast, a 20.9% audience share.

Last night 4.82m (18.5%) watched episode 4 where suspect Lee Ashworth informed Ellie Miller that Hardy had slept with his wife.

In episode 5, beginning at 21.40, Ellie tried to persuade her son Tom to return home while Susan Wright pointed the finger at another suspect in the courtroom. The episode was watched by 4.57m (17.9% share).

Episode 6, from 22.30 saw Tom in court trying to secure his father's release, much to Ellie's fury, while Hardy faced his heart procedure. 4.04 million (20.5%) tuned in. 

Broadchurch concludes on Monday 20th April on France 2 with the final 2 episodes from 20.55. They will be followed at 22.30 by Dans les Coulisses de Broadchurch, a 40 minute behind-the-scenes documentary looking at the making of the latest series.
