Digital Spy Believe David Tennant Should Play The Young Commissioner Gordon In Batman Spinoff

With the announcement yesterday that Fox have ordered a TV series of Gotham, the origin story of a pre-Batman Jim Gordon, speculation has been rife as to who might play the lead role of the future Commissioner. Digital Spy have come up with their own top ten, and heading up their list is David Tennant. They say:

Maybe 'Doctor Who' favourite David Tennant should have another crack at US TV? He certainly excelled in 'Broadchurch' as a determined copper...

David's last foray into American drama was the courtroom series Rex Is Not Your Lawyer in 2009, which was not picked up by NBC. David also recently auditioned for the lead role in Hannibal and was narrowly squeezed out by Mads Mikkelsen, although show creator Bryan Fuller says he would still be keen to involve him on the show.

Other names on the Digital Spy list include Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston and The Good Wife star Gary Cole.

Gotham will have The Mentalist creator Bruno Heller executive producing and writing episodes. There has been no formal announcement by Fox of any cast members so far; the Digital Spy list is pure speculation.
