Edinburgh Award Success For Broadchurch And Chris Chibnall

There was double success tonight for Chris Chibnall as both he and Broadchurch picked up awards at the Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival. The annual conference awards, now in their 12th year, were announced this evening by guest host Dara O Briain

Broadchurch picked up the new programme award while Chris Chibnall, the show's creator, received a new special award for the Industry Standout Talent of the Year. The festival said that Chibnall's recognition was "a testament to his intricately woven plot line."

ITV, which enjoyed huge ratings and critical success from Broadchurch, was named channel of the year.

Broadchurch starred David Tennant and Olivia Colman and followed the impact of the murder of a child on a tiny coastal community. It is currently airing to international acclaim in territories around the world. A second series is in the early stages of production.

Congratulations to Chris and to the team behind Broadchurch
