David Tennant Tops Entertainment Weekly Poll

Image
As part of the build up to series 7 of Doctor Who, US pop culture mag Entertainment Weekly asked their online readers to vote for their favourite incarnation of the Doctor.

The results are in and they are very clear: David Tennant has blown away the competition, winning the vote easily with a lead of 59%. His nearest rival, Matt Smith, came in at only 16%. Tom Baker and Chris Eccleston picked up third and fourth place respectively, while the remaining seven Doctors could only muster 5% of the vote between them.

Doctor Who is due to return to BBC America this autumn. Before then, BBC America will be showing four specially created documentaries weekly throughout August, starting this coming Saturday with The Science Of Doctor Who (9pm, 4th Aug. BBC America)

The final ever episode of Twenty Twelve  can be seen on BBC Two tonight. The award-winning comedy series, starring Hugh Bonneville, Olivia Colman and Jessica Hynes and narrated by David Tennant has been following the fictional Olympic Deliverance Committee - often with uncanny parallels to real life - as they attempt to deliver the biggest show on earth - the London 2012 Olympics.
About the episode:
Loose Ends
Ten days left to try to tie up loose ends before the Deliverance Team finally hands over to the Live Team. Issues include what to do when it's discovered that the fireworks planned for the Opening Ceremony will trigger all the ground to air missiles that are in place for the Games; how to respond when the environmentally sound charging stations installed for the official Olympic electric cars turn out to charge so slowly that the entire fleet will quickly become plugged in, unable to move; and how handle a much publicised competition to compose a special peal of church bells …
