USA: Mad To Be Normal Released On DVD Today

Image
Mad To Be Normal starring David Tennant is released on Region 1 DVD in the USA today. David gives an award-winning performance as the controversial Scottish psychiatrist RD Laing in the film which premiered at the Glasgow Film Festival last year.

The movie is based upon Laing's revolutionary work during the 1960s when he set up a medication-free treatment facility in London for people experiencing mental illness. The Kingsley Hall project allowed patients and medical staff to live alongside each other as equals and promoted talking therapies that encouraged patients to work through their psychosis. Although dismissed as dangerous by his peers at the time, Laing's methods went on to shape how mental health interventions are managed today. Elisabeth Moss, Gabriel Byrne and Michael Gambon also star. Mad To Be Normal was written and directed by Robert Mullan and produced by Gizmo Films with Bad Penny Productions, GSP Studios and LipSync.

David Tennant Shoots Final Scene For Good Omens

Image
David Tennant has completed his scenes for Good Omens this morning. The six part production has been shooting since September, initially in the UK, but more recently in South Africa. David plays the demon Crowley in the adaptation of the classic comedy novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. Michael Sheen co-stars as his opposite number, the angel Aziraphale.

This morning Neil Gaiman, who scripted the series and who is also acting as showrunner tweeted:
David Tennant just wrapped his final scene. It's been such a privilege getting to work with him and @michaelsheen on this show. So many talented actors but those two set the bar so high and always delivered. — Neil Gaiman (@neilhimself) February 20, 2018
Last night Neil also tweeted about one of David's final scenes:
I thought that watching an angel delightedly gavotting was the best thing I'd ever seen. But tonight I watched three demons disco dancing badly with a giant pin and the world can get no better. #…

OUT TODAY - David Tennant Talks To His Younger Self For The Big Issue: "Acting...You're Still Getting Away With It"

Image
The new edition of The Big Issue magazine is out today nationally in the UK, and includes a new interview with David Tennant. David spoke to writer Jane Graham exclusively for the regular feature 'Letter To My Younger Self'.

A few extracts have already appeared online. David discusses how he would talk to his 16-year old self about his early plans to be an actor, saying:
"I didn’t know any actors. And people all around me were going, quite rightly, this is a daft idea. You won’t make a living. It was sound and proper advice. But a little part of the teenage me thought they might be wrong. It would be nice to go back to him now and tell him, you’re in your mid-40s now, and you’re still getting away with it. Though I still don’t know how much longer that’ll last."

He adds, "I knew I definitely wanted to go to drama school. I think I got my first acting job at 16. Or even 15, an anti-smoking ad. Then I did an episode of Dramarama. We went to the Isle of Skye for four…
